The old statues and carvings of the cathedral perished in the fire following the bombing of the Cathedral. But even in the second world war this huge attack and incredible loss shocked the world. Soon a lot of artists started to send gifts to the mourning city. Alain John was only 17 years old when he made this Christ figure of clay. He could never make his dream come true and became a real artist. He lost his life as a RAF pilot. After his death this statue was turned to stone and was given to the Cathedral as a memorial to those who lost their young lives in the war - before they had even be started.

A katedrális eredeti szobrai és faragványai mind elpusztultak a bombázást követő tűzvészben. Még a második világháború vérzivataros éveiben is, mikor minden nemzetnek megvolt a maga vesztesége, sokkolta egész Európát a Coventry elleni támadás erőszakos ereje.
